Founded in Australia, Darkness & Desire Publishing was born from a gap in the industry - where emotionally intense, dark, and unconventional stories are too often overlooked or misunderstood.
As an author, I know what it means to pour everything into a manuscript and still question whether your voice truly belongs. This press exists because I refused to accept that it doesn’t.
We champion bold storytelling - dark romance, fantasy, thrillers, and more. Stories with weight, tension, desire, and emotional depth. The kind of books that don’t ask for permission to be seen.
Our focus is simple:
To support authors with care, clarity, and creative respect - without reducing their work to a transaction. We don’t believe in gatekeeping powerful stories.
Every manuscript we take on is a collaboration, not a number. We don’t reshape voices - we refine them. We don’t dilute stories - we strengthen them.
And we believe authors deserve transparency just as much as they deserve respect.

What we DON’T Accept
At DDP, we welcome bold, intense and emotionally dark storytelling - but NEVER at the cost at the of safety or ethics.
There are firm, non-negotiable boundaries around the content we will never publish, support or consider.
We Do NOT Accept:
ANY romantic, sexual, or suggestive content involving MINORS.
This includes any scenario where a character under 18 is involved in, targeted for, implied in or placed within an adult romantic or sexual dynamic. No Exceptions.
Stories that sexualize, exploit or endanger minors in any way.
This applies even if the content is framed as “Dark”, “Taboo,” “Edgey,” or “Shook factor.” DDP
is a Zero-tolerance house when it comes to anything involving children in adult themes.
Graphic harm toward minors.
( Non-sexual references to danger or past trauma MAY be considered on a case-by-case basis only when handled with maturity, purpose, and sensitivity. )
Romanticized abuse without consequences.
Dark romance may include toxic dynamics, but it must show depth, intention and character agency - never glorification of real world harm.
Hate speech or content created to demean, target or degrade groups of people.
Darkness & Desire Publishing celebrates dark themes, morally grey characters, obsession, villains, assassins, and romance that pushes boundaries - but we also protect our readers and uphold strict ethical standards.
Your story can be ruthless, emotional, brutal, sensual and twisted…
